Professional Bio

John Dawes is an Associate Professor in the Clinical Neurosciences department at Oxford University and currently holds an MRC New Investigator Award. He is interested in the role of the immune system in chronic pain, in particular that of autoantibodies which can target antigens within the nervous system. His work aims to demonstrate that autoantibodies are a mechanism to cause pain in patients, and that they can be used as a tool to identify clinically relevant targets applicable to pathological pain more generally.
