Pall Karlsson is Associate Professor at the Danish Pain Research Centre at Aarhus University in Denmark. Dr Karlsson holds a bachelor degree in molecular biology from University of Iceland, a master‘s degree in molecular biology from Aarhus University and a PhD from the Department of Clinical Medicine, Aarhus University from 2013. His responsibilities encompass overseeing both clinical and research-oriented skin biopsies. The primary goal of Dr. Karlsson's research is to unravel the complexities surrounding neuropathic pain in patients with diabetes. His work delves into understanding why some individuals develop this condition while others do not. Additionally, he spearheads efforts to identify innovative biomarkers for neuropathic pain. Dr. Karlsson leads several prominent cohort studies focused on investigating the pathophysiology of neuropathic pain. Dr Karlsson has authored 50 research papers and has extensive, ongoing international collaboration in both Europe and the United States. He lives outside Aarhus with his wife, two daughters and their playful companions: Lucky and Hope, the cats, and Hugo, the mischievous dog.
