Yuan-Xiang Tao, MD, PhD, is a full Professor with tenure and Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Anesthesiology and Director in Center for Pain Medicine Research at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and a board member of the International Chinese Academy of Anesthesiology. Dr. Tao was awarded as the Rita Allen Foundation Pain Scholar from the Rita Allen Foundation and American Pain Society in 2011. He also received the Faculty of the 2016-2017 Year Award for Basic Science from New Jersey Medical School in 2017, Excellence in Research Award from the New Jersey Health Foundation in 2017, Rutgers Board of Trustees Award for Excellence in Research in 2020 and Rutgers Chancellor Basic Science Researcher Award in 2021. Dr. Tao served several Advisory Committees at previous Hopkins and current New Jersey Medical School, study sections of NIH, National Natural Science Foundation of China, and etc. He is the Co-Editor-in-Chief in Transl Perioper & Pain Med. Dr. Tao is a highly accomplished investigator and a leading authority in Neuroscience and Pain research. More than 180 scientific articles and invited reviews from his laboratory have been published in top-rated scientific journals, such as Nature Neurosci, Neuron, Adv Sci, JCI, J Exp Med, Brain, and Nature Commun. Dr. Tao currently holds five patents. His laboratory is supported currently by NIH grants.
