Abnormal C-nociceptor Function Underlies Pain in Fibromyalgia
Topical Workshop
In this presentation, Jordi Serra will discuss why fibromyalgia should be considered a peripheral nervous system disorder. He will describe the microneurographic recordings in patients with fibromyalgia. More specifically Jordi Serra will show that the majority of patients with fibromyalgia have abnormally active C nociceptors and will discuss how this nociceptor hyperexcitability, which resemble that in small-fibre neuropathy, contribute to the pain and tenderness suffered by patients with fibromyalgia
