Chronic neuropathic pain, has a significant impact on quality of life, cognitive performance and is often associated with depression and anxiety. This study has shown, targeting 5-HT6 receptors with inverse agonists or targeting 5-HT6 receptor/mTOR complex activity might be new strategies to treat the painful diabetic neuropathy and associated cognitive co-morbidities.
