This poster will present novel findings where in vitro cultures of microglia were treated with TLQP-21 to detemine if this peptide will induce a proinflammatory effect. TLQP-21 is known to activate and modulate microglia in a variety of ways. However, no published findings have demonstrated TLQP-21 induces a proinflammatory phenoptype in microglia. Here, my poster will present data showing the upregulation of proinflammatory mediators, increases in M1 marker protein levels and morphological changes induced by TLQP-21 treatment. Additionally, siRNA transfection identified the contribution of the two known recepotors for TLQP-21 towards these observed modulations.
