Abstract Description

Institution: Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) - Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil

The etiology of breast cancer pain includes metastatic tumor and antineoplastic therapy such as paclitaxel and aromatase inhibitors. Evidence has shown the contribution of kinins and their receptors B1 and B2 in the proliferation of breast cancer cells and chronic painful conditions. We extend these findings, showing that kinin B1 and B2 receptors can be targets for treating the pain caused by the metastatic breast tumor and antineoplastic therapy with aromatase inhibitors and paclitaxel alone, as well as the potentiated pain when tumor and antineoplastic therapy were associated.
