Abstract Description

Neuropathic pain occurs after nerve injury and can be triggered  by various reasons e.g. metabolic diseases, neurotoxic chemicals, infections, mechanical trauma or even tumors. However, the treatment options on the market are limited and unsatisfying.
Transient receptor potential canonical channel 5  is one of the seven mammalian TRPC proteins and is functionally a non-selective calcium permeable cation channel. In our study we show expression changes after inducing a chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) in vivo. Furthermore, we see that endogenous lipid mediators can modulate TRPC5. Due to these findings it has high potential as a target for pain treatment.
